After our quick stop for the views, we drove down the the Museum of Catalunyan Art, which was cool! We went just to the Romanic Art section, where the art had very specific characteristics. The exhibit was cool because it was made almost completely of salvaged pieces from the walls of old churches around Catalunya, so they were never completely filled in. It was cool to see art that was salvaged and transported from the walls of churches from the 900s!
After the museum, we headed down the mountain to go to the Cathedral of Barcelona, which was unfortunately closing for Siesta. So we left and walked around a little and I found a few things to take pictures of:
After the walking around, we headed to a great restaurant on the beach! We had salad and traditional Spanish tapas (squid and this special type of fish that almost nobody likes except for me!) followed by paella and ice cream for dessert! Here are pictures from lunch:
After lunch, my friend Karen and I went to the beach. We didn't take any pictures, but it was certainly beautiful and a great day to lay in the sun! Afterwards, we got a little lost heading back to our hotel, but it was fine because the weather was so beautiful, as is the city.
That night we ended up getting Pans, a fast food place from Spain, and bringing it back to our room to watch the Chile-Spain soccer game. Afterwards, we went on a 'pub crawl' in Barcelona that was literally the worst experience ever! It was funny though because we got to laugh at the GIANT group of Semester At Sea kids going on the crawl. We ducked out after about 20 minutes, but here is a picture of me, Karen, Keegan and Mel...
That's all for Friday! Next post, Saturday!
